New Contract for Mobile Landing Light Systems to Support Humanitarian Operations

Metalite has recently received a new contract to supply Mobile Airfield Lighting Systems which will be used to support humanitarian and peacekeeping operations around the world. The systems consist of radio controlled CALKITs™ plus "Abbreviated" portable PAPI systems.

CALKIT™ consists of 66 battery powered edge lights contained in a road going trailer and is capable of supporting a non-precision approach runway of 1680m or 2800m dependant upon flying conditions. The "A" PAPI provides additional glide slope information to the pilot. Edge lights contained in CALKIT™ are FAA certified and meet ICAO requirements for portable emergency airfield lighting.

This contract demonstrates the suitability of CALKIT™ for use at remote airfields and helipads to support air operations during the hours of darkness and during poor daytime weather conditions. The CALKIT™ system has been chosen for its ability to meet international aviation standards and for its capacity to be quickly deployed, stowed and relocated to other areas of operation.

Metalite's equipment is in use by humanitarian organisations within Africa and the Americas supporting both rotary and fixed wing operations.
