BP Algeria Buys Third CALKIT

Metalite has been awarded a contract to supply a further CALKIT™ system to BP Algeria; this is the second contract and the third CALKIT™ to be delivered to BP to support the company's In Salah Gas project. Due to CALKITs™ ability to meet international aviation standards, including ICAO, STNA and also with FAA approval, the system is being used extensively by oil and gas companies around the world operating unlit airstrips and airports. CALKIT™ allows aircraft to land during the hours of darkness for medical emergencies, urgent re-supply or evacuation requests.

CALKIT™ is extremely suitable for remote airfield operations, it can be deployed within 20 minutes by a team of two personnel and is able to illuminate a runway of up to 2800mtrs. The intensity of the lights allows the pilot to visibly acquire the airfield from distances up to 8 miles.
