A new ultra lightweight, highly portable landing light system from Metalite

Metalite is soon to launch a lightweight portable landing light system. It will be suitable for use with both fixed and rotary wing aircraft during tactical operations which require a highly portable, lightweight system which is also low in volume.

After consultation with international military and special forces it became apparent that there was a need within the market for a system that was both lower in weight and size than those currently available and that also offered greater functionality.

Metalite's latest system consists of light units, a master switching unit for remote activation and control, a battery charger and carrying case. A typical eight light system has an all up weight, including case, of around 20kg.

The light units, which incorporate LED light source, offer the full range of aviation colours as well as infrared. Each unit incorporates a tripod assembly that protects the lens when not in use and adds greater height to the landing light when needed. Where both weight and volume are at a premium the unit can be used stripped of the tripod while still retaining all its performance features.

In circumstances where separate groups of lights need to be deployed in relatively close proximity; each group can be controlled independently using the channel alternatives featured in the master switching unit.

This system will complete Metalite's range of military portable airfield lighting systems. The company can now offer landing lights suitable for all stages of a tactical operation, the LWS for the initial stage, MOSKIT and SALKIT for the intermediate stage and MOSKIT, SALKIT and CABKIT for long term deployment.
